Simulators That Skip The Energy Timers
Energy timers are the thing I hate most in mobile sims. You get five minutes of fun and then a wall telling you to come back in three hours, and it exists purely to nag you into opening the app again.
Offline sims tend to dodge this by design, because there's no server to enforce a schedule. Tidewharf Harbor is a good example: time only moves while you're playing, so stepping away costs you nothing.
When you're browsing for a simulator, read a few recent reviews and search for the word 'energy'. If players are complaining about waiting, steer clear. A good sim should feel like a hobby you control, not a chore that pings you.
The reward for finding the right one is real. There's something genuinely calming about slowly building a little world at your own pace, with no game trying to hurry you along.
